What are the 40 point checks included on the Just Print service?

We perform a 40-point check on your print-ready artwork file before it goes to print on our Just Print service. We analyse the file at the upload stage, and you can see near instantly if the file passes our inspection.

 

40-point checks for Just Print. 

    1. Check File Type.
    2. Convert to PDF.
    3. Check if the File is Corrupt.
    4. Check if Passworded File.
    5. Check if Disproportionate to the expected Size.
    6. Check if Fonts are unembedded. 
    7. Check Non-Printable areas.
    8. Check Foil Line Weight.
    9. Check PANTONE colours where applicable.
    10. Check KissCutting & White layer where applicable.
    11. Check Template Overlay where applicable (folders, flags etc).
    12. Check if Incorrect number of files.
    13. Check if the Incorrect number of pages.
    14. Check layers.
    15. Check white knockouts.
    16. Set trim box.
    17. Set bleed box.
    18. Convert LAB colour to CMYK.
    19. Convert RGB to CMYK.
    20. Convert the UV file to black only.
    21. Convert Spot to CMYK where appropriate.
    22. Fix full-colour blacks.
    23. Fix Unembedded Fonts where system fonts are available.
    24. Fix line weight less than 0.075 and change to 0.076.
    25. Flatten transparencies - remove overprint on colours other than black. 
    26. Rotate the File to match the expected X&Y.
    27. Flatten rotate key into page content.
    28. Flatten all layers keeping initial visibility where appropriate.
    29. Correct Orientation.
    30. Separate and combine pages.
    31. Assign eyelet positions.
    32. Add numbering where appropriate.
    33. Fix missing Bleed by expanding/mirroring artwork.
    34. Scale incorrect sizes which are proportionate.
    35. Scale 25% artwork files to full size (where applicable) 
    36. Change output intent to be compatible with pdfx1/a.
    37. Tag all images/text with ICC profile.
    38. Set black line art less than 2pt to overprint.
    39. Reduce ink coverage over 340%.
    40. Downsample any image above 450dpi to 300dpi.

Please note: There can be further automated checks done to your artwork for more complex products further down the print flow, but we assure you that we will notify you as quickly as possible.
