How to supply a Promotional Calendar / Photo Calendar artwork.
Promotional and Photo Calendars are produced similarly to a traditional Saddle Stitch Booklet. A landscape calendar needs to be supplied in a portrait format to back up correctly when the artwork runs through our printing system. We know that seems counterintuitive, but it trips people up a lot. We really do mean it when we say that a landscape calendar must be supplied in portrait format. The calendar unfolds from bottom to top; the spine is horizontal. However, pages in a booklet open from left to right, then the spine is in a vertical format.
Example
If we are looking to create a landscape calendar when closed the front cover is landscape, then each calendar month has a top and bottom spread, and then the back page is landscape.
To create this, we need a PDF that has 28 pages, each in portrait orientation. For the first 27 pages, rotate each page 90 degrees so the spine is on the left-hand side, as it would be on a portrait booklet.
The final page (back cover) must be rotated 180 degrees from the rest of the pages, so the spine is on the right-hand side. This will ensure that the final calendar has the back page in the correct orientation when held landscape.
It is recommended that you download our template from the product page, to ensure the correct format is supplied for printing.
Drill Holes
These are automatically placed approximately 5mm away from the edge of the page edge and are about 5mm in diameter. We recommend that you do not place any important text in or around this area as it may be drilled into.
