How to supply artwork for a wiro-bound calendar?
Wiro-bound calendars come in multiple different styles and sizes. And each model has a slightly different format for printing. Each page is printed individually and then bound together using a wire spine. Depending on the style you choose, the orientation of some pages may need to be rotated and the page sequence altered.
Wiro Bound Drilled
Drilled Wiro Bound Calendars have a similar design to a traditional calendar. A 2-page spread, usually with an image on the top page and the month on the bottom. We require the pages in a specific orientation. We flip artwork pages from left to right, and as the wire spine is produced at the top of every page, this means that the page that will be on the top half when open (wire running along the bottom of the page) will need to be rotated upside down for our system to correctly process it.
Please see our digital templates for more information.
Wiro Bound Thumb Cut 16 page
16 Page Wiro Bound Thumb Cut Calendars are printed with a month on each side of the page. The way these are designed are you have one month on one side, then you rotate the calendar around to reveal the next month, then flip the page over to reveal the next, and so on. The sequence of the months may look a little confusing. However, the finished calendar works perfectly. The pages do not need to be rotated in this design; the order of the months is the crucial part.
We strongly recommend that you down the correct template from our website to ensure the correct format is supplied for printing.
Wiro Bound Thumb Cut 28 page
28 Page Wiro Bound Thumb Cut Calendars are simple. Each month has its own page and runs in the correct sequence. After every month, you simply flip the page over to the next month. We only require a 28-page PDF with the pages in the right order, and in the correct orientation.
Safe Zone – Wire spine area
There is an additional safe zone area that runs along where the wire spine and thumb cut is produced. This is 15mm from the edge of the page. We strongly recommend that you do not place any important text or graphics within the area, as they may come into contact with the spine and not print correctly.
