What Is A Safe Zone In Printing?

What Is a Safe Zone and Why Do I Need It for Print?

A safe zone (or quiet border) is the area around your print job that should remain free of important elements like text, images, or logos. Using a safe zone ensures that your key content isn’t affected during the trimming process. It sits inside the bleed area to prevent any cutting into your design.

What Size Should My Safe Zone Be?

  • For general print jobs, we recommend a safe zone of at least 3mm from the trimmed edge, with 5mm being ideal.
  • For borders, aim for at least 3mm wide, but 5mm gives a more polished look.
  • For booklets, use a 5mm safe zone, or ideally 10mm, for the best finish.

Following these guidelines ensures a professional and clean final product.
