File Check - Double-check before you print
Our File Check option is ideal if you've poured your creativity into your artwork but want extra peace of mind before it goes to print. During you online File Check, our automated tools run 60 different checks and fixes then we provide you with a report and an instant proof for your review. Use these tools to make sure your file is 100% print-ready.
Guidelines are placed on your proof to highlight to you if there is anything within the safe area that should be avoided or if you are missing bleed.
Please note: Most checks are completed instantly online, but some complex checks are carried out by our PrePress team in the background to ensure your file is print-ready. You’ll still need to carefully review and approve your proof before we go to print.
Opt for File Assist instead if you’d our PrePress personally review and fix your file.
If you’d prefer a human expert to personally review and fix your file, choose File Assist (£5).
If everything looks good, we’ll move straight to printing. There are a few extra checks and fixes made offline.
Please note: while we’re thorough with technical and quality checks, we don’t review your file for spelling, grammar, or copy errors.

We will accept a Print Ready PDF, as well as Print Ready EPS, TIF or JPG files.
File Check Summary
We will automatically fix these errors within your file:
- Convert JPG, TIF or EPS to PDF
- Convert RGB to CMYK
- Convert spot colour to CMYK
- Overprints set on colours other than black
- Ink coverage over 340%
We will warn you if your file contains any of these errors:
- Text/objects too close to the edge of the page
- Low-resolution images
- Impure blacks
- Incorrect panel sizes on folded jobs
- Issues with the form cutter guide lining up with your artwork
- No allowance for creep within your booklet
We will reject your file if it contains any of these errors:
- Corrupt file
- Un-embedded fonts
- Password protected
- Sizes that are disproportionate
- Missing elements from the file
- Incorrect number of files
