Why is there a Non Printable area on the Inside Perfect Bound Book Cover?
In the process of book production, the spine area serves as the crucial point of connection between the cover and the inner pages. To ensure a robust and lasting bond, the surface needs to be clear, allowing the glue to create a secure attachment. Ink poses a threat to this bond, as it can interfere with the adhesive's ability to effectively grip the paper fibres. As a result, the risk of pages loosening or detachment from the cover amplifies, potentially compromising the overall integrity of the book.
When creating your cover design for your perfect bound book, we ask that no images, graphics or text are within 5mm from the inner spine area on the inside cover. When glued together the unprinted section of the spine won't be seen by the naked eye.
