We automatically add trapping to your artwork when it is processed through our workflow. Trapping is the spreading of colour where two areas of colour join, and this can cause a faint, thin outline around elements on the job.
We apply trapping because when printing full colour jobs, slight registration differences may occur when the paper is affected by certain factors, such as temperature, air humidity and moisture content of inks. These registration differences can result in a visible gap in colour where the two different colours join. This gap may be white or may be in a third colour depending on the colour breakdown of the two objects. A small overlap (or trap) is therefore created between the two objects / colours in the individual colour separations to prevent this gap from occurring. Because of this slight overlap no gaps will occur even if there is a slight registration difference when your job is printed.
